Paphos mall does not have a business license, mayor claims

Paphos mayor Phedonos Phedonos claimed that the city's Kings Avenue Mall does not have a business licence. Phedonos was talking after a visit to the mall on Friday and expressed his concern over the fact that - despite promises, the mall has been operating for five years without a license...

Nevertheless it is amazing that they can get away with these 'irregularities'........
" He added that the mall never received neither a final approval certification nor a planning permit. The existing planning permit was issued for an area of 26,000 m2, however the mall currently covers an area of 34,000 m2, he said.
“Inside the mall, there are establishments which operate without a license and which do not meet the fire and safety regulations,” he added. "

Interior Ministry’s response
Talking to CNA, an Interior Ministry official responded to Phedonos, by arguing that the mall’s operations are completely legitimate.

How the Mall got a building permit even when the area around is well known as at least from Roman period (Roman Hotel opposite p.e.) nobody knows.
Here a photo before it was built and one can see clearly the remains of an old church on the right hand side.

Some archaeological remains are still there to the rear of the Mall. They have been tidied up and roofed over and can be seen by anyone taking a walk past the outside parking area.. They are to the right of the roundabout

Actually they were moved to their present position from the middle of the site.

I think I must be suffering with Alzheimers or memory loss....what was on the site of the Mall before the Mall was built ??
Something hazy at the back of my grey matter says a go cart track but I honestly can't remember

Think it's was just waste ground, but there was a fair there on several occasions as I recall.
