Cash stolen from Kouklia holiday home

Paphos CID and Kouklia police are investigating the burglary of a holiday apartment belonging to a non-Cypriot, the Cyprus News Agency reported.It said that the burglar or burglars had broken in through the apartment door and taken 15,000 US dollars and 11,000 euro from a safe in the bedroom....

Begs the question, if its a holiday apartment why have the holiday makers got that much cash with them.

It's how the other 'arf live, innit?

I remember a few years back being behind a Chinese lady in Eden (opp Costas) and being amazed to see her pay for about €20 worth of groceries with a €500 euro note.

I would imagine the fault lies with the banks that give them such high denomination notes.

Perhaps the Israelis copy the habit of CYPRIOTS which in the past and still now showing off with a large amount of cash in their trouser pockets whenever there is something to pay...

I understand that cash is King and Cypriots always had cash to pay for everything but what really puzzles me how these break ins are always at premises were there is a large amount of cash kept and expensive jewellery........how do these thieves know which premises to break into ..........

Problem with burglaries involving cash is that it is difficult to prove how much is actually involved. I have photographs of most items and keep an inventory so if anything was stolen there is at least a record (also useful for an insurance claim in the event of fire/water damage).
