TIME OUT AWARDS: The best souvlaki in Cyprus make it in Paphos




The fact that spits and souvlaki are for many of us our national dish is known. The fact that TIME OUT AWARDS for years has been the most recognized distinction for restaurants and food categories is also known.

The fact that Paphos is famous for its tradition and its gastronomy can not be unrelated to the first prize won by the Tavern Michalos in Paphos in the category of Souvlaki.


The owners of Savvas Giannitsis and Stella Panayi and the chef of the tavern Michalis Giannitsis received this honorary prize at the ceremony and promised that they will continue to offer their customers the best souvlaki!

Well done kids!

To be fair, ive eaten souvlaki in every town in Cyprus, and some have been good some not so good, Im sure there will be hundreds of others who will claim they have the best souvlaki in Cyprus.

You can say the same about any restaurant award though.

Well done to the people concerned. And it is a proper award too. Not one of those ones you win if you pay for a certain category.

Didn't mean to take anything away from them, well done to them, and if i'm over in Paphos I will definitely look them up, but to say they are the best souvlaki place in Cyprus, is a big shout.

It's their award and they can say what they want. If they have an Argumentative Sod of the Year award then rest assured, I shall nominate you.
