President Nicos Anastasiades on Friday presented the government's plan for the Akamas peninsula, expected to be implemented between 2020 and 2022.Speaking at the presidential palace, Anastasiades said it was a "landmark day" since after decades of discussions, implementation moved from theory to specific projects....

The new plan looks like a mixed blessing. One thing is that the whole Akamas area will not be the same with 83km of new roads and 14 refreshment areas... I hope that Lara beach as the main turtle hatchery beach will be respected and that hotels and other tourist amenities won’t be allowed to wreck its narural beauty and peace with lights, and noise at night in summer months to the detriment of the turtles.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the turtles will have any say in the matter!
