Organisers of the Cyprus International 4-day Challenge believe that Cyprus has everything you could wish for when looking for events: climate, natural resources, fine hotels and delicious food all within sensible flying time from almost anywhere in Europe.

Happening all over the beautiful region of Akamas, “a development-free zone, which gives runners the opportunity to test their limits in and out of the norm race, in spectacular flat and steep trails while being surrounded by the wilderness of the area” the events take place later this month.

So, what is this challenge all about? This 4-day thrill-kick is a staged running event, successfully combining a 6k time trial, an 11k mountain trail run, a multi-terrain half marathon, and a 10k City Run over four consecutive days, covering a distance slightly longer than a marathon.

In it’s 14th edition, it promises to be once again a unique event that attracts runners from all over the world to compete, have fun and enjoy a friendly atmosphere.

Starting on November 22 with a 6k time trial, on asphalt, runners set off in 10 second intervals and run against the clock and finish in front of a lovely view of a ship wreck. On the second day, mountain running lovers will enjoy a trail run in a distance of 11k, while on the third day, competitors will be challenged through some extremely picturesque routes setting off from Neo Chorio and finishing with a splash in Lara bay.

On the last day, and after having completed the half marathon, which by most is characterised as the highlight of the event, mountain “climbing” and trail runs are left behind as the adventurers head for the city of Paphos, where runners compete in the fairly flat 10k Paphos City Run. This race is also open to participants not running the full Cyprus challenge.
