I can't disagree with the intent of your post, but "Remembrance" was initially purely to stop the horrors of war and remember who had died in WW1 and WW2 - rather than countries
It has recently expanded to cover other countries and now other wars

According the The British Legion it's " A day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom ".

I remember reading about the pioneering surgical work carried out by Dr Harold Gillies in WW1 and beyond. He built new faces for countless soldiers, and any article you read on him will soon bring home just how brutal war is.

Personally, for me, Poppy Day is for remembering those who lost their lives fighting for their family and country in war. Nationality doesn't come into it.

It's a 'must see'.

Strange to think that we may be looking into the faces of our own family, and not know it.
