On my walk on the coast path today, the top of Troodos was visible, but the Aphrodite Rock headland, just a few km away from Riccos Beach, was not. Last week, it was visible every day. It was also surprisingly windy and once again, some of the watersport people were bringing their boats out of the water.

I fear that the dust will be a reoccuring feature until or unless we have some proper rain . The ground is so parchedabd, dust is everywhere, i was out walking in the area close to Pikni Forrest this morning. The hills were clear but the sea was half oscurred by a foggy type mist visability there looked very poor. No sign of a horizon.
According to weatherunderground the weather is likely to be fine/dry for the next 10 days..

And I suppose you think that is going to bucket like hell in central Cyprus and not a drop in western Cyprus? Dammit, as the Hooded Crow flies,we are less than 100 km apart! Your weather is generally similar, although 2-4 hours earlier in some cases, with more rain and wind and somewhat lower summer temperatures.
My updated forecast is:

It looks like it may be almost as you say " bucket like hell in central Cyprus and not a drop in western Cyprus "
The Forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is 1.2mm. 1.5mm and 2.4mm on Sunday..
A lot different than your predicted 40mm on Friday
https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/c ... alwx_10day
But we certainly all need some rain..

That is different from
"According to weatherunderground the weather is likely to be fine/dry for the next 10 days.."
which is what I was originally answering to.
My 18:00 forecast hasn't changed much from the above one: still buckets on Friday and Saturday.

Windy.com is showing just about fine in Larnaca on Saturday but cloudy in the afternoon. But of course it could change.

Actually that happens all the time. In this neck of the woods, we quite frequently get one half of glorious Polemi basking in sunshine while the other half gets soaked. And the weather between Polis, Polemi and Paphos (not to mention Peyia and Pissouri) varies enormously.

Here at sunny Moni it didn't rain at all whilst 38km away at Mosfiloti the heavens were open! The rain was that heavy that traffic was stopping on the hard shoulder due to the lack of visibility, yet Moni (to the south) had no rain of any sort.
I therefore deduce that the rain in Cyprus is very localized.

Of course, when you have thundery rain, it is always in showers which can be very heavy. All weather forecasts try to average the amount of rain over a wide area. In another thread, a couple of months ago, I mentioned that it was bucketing here in Mosfiloti when I was leaving to go to Larnaca. The next village, Psevdas, 3 km from here was as dry as a bone. The next village again, Ayia Anna was again in a downpour but it was just beginning to rain when I got to Kalochorio, all in about 12 km!. Your deduction is right.
