The period leading up to Christmas always tend to see a rise in no of breakins into homes. It seems to be starting earlier this year. In addition to good locks and an alarm we also have wrought iron window bars on all windows which don’t have shutters. This seems to deter most would be criminals...

My daughter in law lives in Larnaca and said they have had an awful lot of break-ins recently. Most of them during the daytime - so Island wide it would seem.

I had all the locks upgraded and security pins fitted to windows and patio doors. We have an alarm and security cameras as well as our place is remote and I used to be away a lot leaving my wife and daughter alone.
I wouldn't put cages on the windows as they are potential death traps in the event of a fire; one of our work colleagues was killed with smoke inhalation as he couldn't exit his bedroom due to a cage on the window when his accomodatio caught fire.

Its a season wide problem, dispite those who would have you believe otherwise, crime, especially burglary is on the increase..protect your home..and it is only a problem until it effects you, Cyprus is not Immune, indeed it seems to be becoming a destination of choice for scum.
Crime is on the increase just about everywhere. Nobody has ever said there is no crime in Cyprus. The only point that has ever been made on this forum is that there is much less crime in Cyprus than in the UK. This is still very much the case.

Would that not be due to the size of each country and the populations!!

No, because you take into account the size of the populations when you do the sums. It isn't complicated. The biggest fag is filtering data so that you don't take crime over the whole of Cyprus and divide just by the population of ROC, or vice versa.
