Aldi , Kevin the carrot drives a truck like the Coca Cola holidays are coming , skids on snow . The back end spins out and hangs over the mountain , just like the Italian job . A crate of carrots at the back end , not a pallet of gold .

If you are not happy with the commercials, you could always watch the BBC or turn it off.
People were buying presents for hundreds of years, before the fancy TV commercials were thought of.

X long predates the English suffix mas...............X is the Greek symbol for Christ, used in the first century by believers.
And much as we might dislike today's excess at Christmas, or even Xmas........the celebration at midwinter long precedes Christianity, and it always involved a degree of over the top indulgence.

Everybody views Christmas differently, there is no right or wrong way.

In my eyes, it's the cheer in the shops playing carols, the Sally Army playing carols on street corners, Christmas lights brightening dark afternoons, the smell of a pine tree in the lounge, covered with baubles and lights. Then Christingle with the children, the Carol Service for all, Communion Christmas morning. Opening gifts, a Bailey's on the coffee table, then lunch for all the family, if you have one. Happy days.

However you celebrate Christmas, make it a peaceful one, that's how it should be.

Sorry you don't hear the Sally Army anymore.

Now that MOH is unwell, and I am disabled I still do as much of my list as I can. For reasons I won't go into, (but will say that it's not for lack of invitations), sadly we no longer spend Christmas with our children and grandchildren, my decision. So it isn't 'chocolate box' for us anymore, but my list still stands, and I make no apology that it's my Homeland, Britain that I refer to.

Yes it's sad for those who are not as fortunate as us, so what do you suggest we should do about it ? Cancel Christmas, tell all to wear sack cloth and ashes ? Cancel all celebrations and services ? As I said everyone sees Christmas differently, I just shared my own thoughts, I only forget the school Nativity Play, that's if they're allowed one.
