Interestingly that sometimes the translation from Mr.Google of PaphosPress's Greek is quite good ! So obviously the Greek text is bad (local) and not the translation of Google is poor...., so here the todays post in Paphos Press, translated...

"Regarding the offer concerning the Design, Construction, Financing and Operation of Pafos Marina, Pafilia informs that it has withdrawn its interest in the above tender.

Pafilia announces that, for more than ten years, the Company has been fully consistent with its obligations stemming from the terms of the above tender and the recent requirements on the part of the Management Committee for Marinas. Unfortunately, the never-ending legal disputes that have arisen and still continue, have not allowed the completion of the award procedure, and its execution has not been successful.

Additionally, the prolonged uncertainty that is not due to our company but the continuing delay in making a final decision to award the bid, unfortunately has discouraged the investor concerned from investing in the project, as well as our company, keeps capital which has been required as proof of economic robustness for a year, without any indication of completing the whole process.

Taking into consideration the above and mainly the interest of the province of Paphos and its inhabitants but also the wider economy of Cyprus, we consider that it would be preferable for the tender for the construction of Marina to be re-proclaimed.

We believe, the company says, that a new open process that responds to new market conditions will make the whole project more attractive and will attract certain investors with certainty.

"We emphasize once again that our company unreservedly supports the construction of Marina in the province of Paphos, since it is an infrastructure that will contribute significantly to the revitalization of its economy.

Finally, we inform that Pafilia continues with the implementation of its development program, which consists of the complex and unique projects of Minthis, ONE and NEO. "

Da Da Boom.....

Well, this serves the Municipality right..... unbelievable wrangling, mistakes and total f%%% ups over the years. This could have made Paphos the No.1 Eastern Med tourist destination - with Cruise Ship berths and super-yacht marina... a competitor to Dubai for sailors and a secure place.

They either have to sort it or find another developer, otherwise it's a dodo.

Paphos missed the chance 10 years ago, to employ thousands of workers when there was a building slump, and the ability to really raise Paphos above Limassol...

I actually meant Paphos. As a region.

No, Paphos Town Council is the municipality, i.e. Paphos Municipality, and their responsibility ends at the border with Chloraka or Emba. The proposed marina is wholly within the Kissonerga Community Council boundary. Paphos District Office (covering the whole Paphos district including Paphos and Polis) oversees both the Community Councils and Municipalities on certain topics, but not others.

The District Offices are overseen by Central Government, and this is where the delays have occurred.

Oh dear, that Marina project seems fated to further delays... I was up at Minthis Hills today and it is obvious that with all the delays, Pafilia is going ahead with a major new building development there instead. While they are still hanging on to title deeds for some developments they built years ago...
