Thunder up here but no rain yet..

Its brewing up near the Lighthouse Beach in KP just had first bolt of lightening but the horizon over the sea looks ominous

Nice cool strong wind coming from the sea, it gives a nice bit of respite from the heat

Hatches are battened down and anything flyawayable locked away

Rained for five mins in my part of Chloraka (melanos) and now calm again.

Had a few cracks of thunder in Zelemenos and about half an hour of rain, heavy some of it. Then all over, all quiet again!

Nothing really to shout about. All over in 10 minutes and hardly a 'storm' just heavy spell of rain! Maybe tomorrow will be more serious.

Nothing at all in Anarita

Just to say that an hour after my original above posting we had a fantastic 'firework' display of lightning every 2 or 3 seconds which lasted about 45 minutes during which the heavens opened.

They are now posting that the main storm in the west is going to reduce now, last night we heard thunder and we did have some reasonable heavy rain, but not for long, today it could go either way, pass by or not.

Even BFBS this morning had to admit that the heavy downpour from their forecast did not happen. In my place I measured (with bucket) 6.5 mm/m2.
Also the forecast from AccuWeather on Monday with 100 l/m2 was wrong, but last minute they changed it last afternoon to 5 mm/m2.... The lightning before midnight was very impressive though but was more in the Troodos mountains, and the thunder were not too noisy....(my dog outside never cares anyhow...)

Well up here in Polemi, we had so much rain I've got to empty the pool. The water is currently lapping the bottom of the skimmer frame, and yesterday before last night's downpour, it was only halfway up the frame. Fortunately no lightning strikes near enough to cut power, either via direct hit to pole or so close to home the anti surge protector works and cuts power to the house.

I told you so! My forecast showed the possibility of local storms, but not the dire hell that I saw predicted here. We had about 5.8 mm of rain in one storm around 00:45 this morning: nowt extraordinary there!

There is obviously a path of rainfall from Polemi, exactly eastwards towards Omodos which has got a weather station from Kitasweather, I am following up many times when there was rain at Polemi and not in my place...so this time they had 30 mm/m2 and I had 6.5 mm. Many times it is the same, Polemi heavy rain and at Omodos the same...

It is certainly black up here but the clouds are still hanging onto the rain .

About to get lashed by the rain here in Peyia, very dark and ominous looking!

Well it has certainly watered our garden.. And we certainly have gales up here
