Heard something but thought it was the cat "pinging" the fly screen, trying to get me up to let him in!

Yes, four helicopters and two Chinooks passed low over the town early this morning...rushed to look and enjoy them!

I thought that they may be Chinooks.

Got a certificate for the Chinook (Vertol 234) inaugural flight to the Fulmar oil rig somewhere. Horrible things to travel on, like a two hour roller coaster ride.
The Huey was a much kinder ride.

Flown a fair few times on both and my memory says that the UH1 Hueys were noisier and rattled a lot and the Chinook always seemed to have rolling motion especially when low flying with the ramp down.
There are nicer ways to travel.

Was in London in July and luckily came across the RAF's 100th Anniversary Exhibition on Horseguards Parade. A Chinook had been flown in and parked up. Had a wander around it and chatted to a loadie. Mentioned to him that I'd had many a trip in the back of one of those. When asked when that was I answered 'back in the eighties', he sniffed and muttered 'before his time' with a look that said cheers grandad off you toddle!
