One off TV viewing

We are coming to our house in Tala soon and the last episode of a series we've been watching will be on when we are mid-air!

We don't want to invest in TV boxes or such like.

In the past, I've use 'Epic Privacy Browser' which has it's own simple VPN - click here to pretend you are in X country ... but last time it didn't work.

The program is on ITV and we have an ITV account so can watch it on 'catch up' ... if only we can get accepted.
Our ISP is Netcom.

TunnelBear has a limited amount of free time each month .

And I have used it in Tala to get ITV . But I am on Cyta .

The iPlayer technology (same on ITV as BBC) is becoming cleverer in terms of identifying VPN technology - so I have found, at times, some VPNs not working with iPlayer.

I and currently using PureVPN, which is about £50 for 2 years and it seems to work really well. When iPlayer find ways of identifying their IP addresses etc. then they reconfigure.....

I'm sort of aware of that, but how do I go about it?

Do they sell them in Papantoniou?

Morning all

Thanks all for advice.

I tried it with Epic Privacy Browser - set my location to UK and all was good ... for a short while, but then 'flash player' kept crashing.
I opened up Opera Browser and logged into ITV and away to go without problems. :D :D

I have just downloaded the Opera Browser and when I tried to watch ITV the message came on screen saying they had detected I was not in the UK :-(

Trev,

Have you changed your time zone to UK on your computer?
Sometimes that makes a difference.

My PC was on UK time last night, but I changed it to CY today and ITV still works! :? :?

I'm logged in - does that make a difference??

'Enable VPN' in settings is 'ON'

:?

Ah.. I never noticed any 'enable VPN' in the opera browser. I assumed it was always on.
Any hints as to where the switch on is ??
I have just googles it and seen the instructions. I may give it another try tonight. :-)

You'll possibly have a cookie set in your browser that tells ITV you're on UK time and that has not yet updated to Cyprus.
Changing time zones doesn't always work but I have learned that even when in the UK you can't watch C4 unless your time zone is UK.
You can log in but C4 will say you're not in the UK unless you're on that time zone.

Very true. I have the basic free channels on laptops here in the house.. But as you probably know it is not' catchup' as we know it.. If you pay a subscription you can record programs though.

It is my wife that wants to watch last nights ITV in a morning in bed.. But even with a VPN she gets a message that setting need to be changed ???
