The highway that will connect Paphos with Polis is in the works, Phileleftheros reported on Monday.The two-lane highway will start from the existing Limassol-Paphos (A6) highway in Agia Marinouda and will pass through the villages of Marathounta, Armou, Tsada, Kallepia, Koili and Stroumpi.It will have two tunnels and five viaducts.The??speed limit will be 100km/h....

A good cheaper alternative will take all traffic from the east reducing congestion around Northern Paphos town and Polis rd

Well it is a long while since it was planned, and also that construction and completion dates were given before. Only time will tell if it happens this time.

Next up it will be a cycleway.

I am very surprised at the quoted 100km/hr speed limit..

Finished in 2021 does sound optimistic.. nothing here seems to finish on time, especially infrastructure construction projects... but I welcome the day that it is. The Polis Rd can be a frustrating drive when it is busy. Crawling behind heavy vehicles on hills. As well as the sometimes hair raising driving practises exhibited by some motorists in a hurry, which can be frightening. Sometimes drivers high opinion of their skills does not match up in practice!

I think the black line is the new road, not the red existing one. They don't meet until Polis. It will be handy for anyone coming from the east, but anyone in, say, Emba, Kissonerga, or thereabouts wont join until north of Tsada by the looks of it. So we still get the hill.

Main reason for the highway is the Limni Golf project and one can see where the motorway will end: ca 800 m away from the entrance of the Golf Resort as well as 800 m to the villa of Averof, chief of ruling party DISY.

If it is completed by 2021,it will be a civil engineering miracle.Never the less it will create some jobs and help the economy.

I am trying to find out what the rules are for overtaking on 'Polis Hill' Most of the hill has a solid white line down the centre of the road, which denotes that you cannot cross it to overtake ?????

Isn't the junction at Kolni already constructed on the A6 ready for Polis road connection. Possibly they'll open it section by section as they did with the A6 as the section through north of Armou to Tsada is pretty straight forward.

Rules, what rules?! The local attitude to the provisions of the Highway Code appears to be that its advisory rather than legal. At times some drivers seem to take little heed of it and the police seldom make an appearance anywhere other than dual carriageways which have speed limits when conducting speed traps. When was the last time that the police had a speed trap outside the built up Paphos area on this road?
Speed traps in certain places and at a busy time of day might help a bit with excessive speeds by some motorists!

Solid white line in centre of road means DO NOT CROSS. The same rules as in the UK for double white lines. It also means do not park if a vehicle must cross the white line to get around you. Not many people know that! LOL

You are spot on with the white line rule ..... So does every car in the line behind a heavy lorry going up Polis Hill have to wait to overtake until it get to the Tsada turnoff ??????????
