Morning, has anyone gone through the process for obtaining a Swimming Pool licence and how easy was it?

Yes its a shared pool, its gated and maintained with separate showers and toilets with an outside shower. Residents are rumbling about it being illegal if we don't get a licence hence the question. Are there companies out there that take over the process of applying for the licence for you and how much would it cost?

Thanks for your response, so maybe people are holding fire till the law changes?

It really seems to be a ludicrous situation. The law needs to be sorted out before the summer season as holiday makers booking appartments on complexes which are advertised as having pools will NOT be amused if they arrive to find the pools on their complex are closed.
Is it something that the Cyprus tourist organisation should take an interest in?

As ludicrous as it may seem, the lifeguard rule applied not only to complexes but also holiday villas.This from a recent article:

For a villa to be considered and licensed by the CTO, it has to be on a plot of at least 1000m2 and have a swimming pool. But, that swimming pool – even though it is for a villa and probably rented out by just one family – must also have a lifeguard to supervise.

The CTO are fully aware of this stupid law and there are currently discussions going on about it.

the law is supposed to have been changed in 2005, but, it hasn't yet. there were noises about the attorney general clamping down, but a week or two later they were supposedly talking about adapting the law again. it certainly does nothing to help tourism or people who live on complexes.
there was a letter in paphos post about it a month or two ago. it was said that maybe people ought to go to the EU under the right to enjoy their property unimpeded. it needs an action like that to galvanise them into action it seems.

Maybe we could set up a group of people in the same situation and get a letter drafted to the mayor Of Paphos? I read the following (see link below) and wondered how I could find out if this change had been tabled by the government and when.
