Long awaited heavy rain arrived at Minthis....( pics )

Since 12th of June when I measured 6 l/m2 in my garden there was no any rainfall so far this autumn, but today finally it arrived. Not only the solar panels on the roof will be cleaned from dust but also the whole garden will love it...

Luckily I emptied the 2 barrels just 1 hour earlier when I saw the black cloud over Polemi and Letymbou coming towards me..

The soil is so dry that it cannot soak up the amount of water at this moment...

I hope it will rain also heavy near Asprokremnos Dam as it needs it the most...

Unfortunately, any rain around the dam will have little impact on it's level! Hopefully, this winter we will get lots of rain higher up which will eventually find its way down to the dam and of course lots of snow in Troodos will help!

Just measured the amount of rain in that 1/2 hour downpour and it was 14 l/m2 which was on my records the heaviest rain in a day since 16.2. when I measured 20 l/m2 (mm/m2). Pool is full up above the skimmers now!

The river that runs under Roudia Bridge ends up in the Asprokemmos.

I was having a swim up there the other week, so there's definitely some water there.

It never fails to amaze me how localised Cyprus weather can be ………… earlier I was watching a huge storm out at sea and thunder clouds on the opposite side over the mountains yet in my little bit of Paphos there was blazing sunshine! :)

So true. We could see and hear the rain Discobobulus refers to yesterday - the rain on the trees was very loud in the distance but we got about a dozen drops and we are about 700 / 800 metres across the fields to the NW of Polemi village centre. Obviously every cloud has its boundary but it’s so much more noticeable here.
