Is it my imagination or have these lovely birds spent longer on their Cyprus break this year?
We have had them flying around for over two weeks now, not that I'm complaining but it seems in previous years they only graced us for a few days.

It is the same like last year when they disappeared end of September. I photographed a lot of them that time and know the date from my gallery.

Today I heard a nice pair ( ) just outside my kitchen with their noise and took some pics through the kitchen window in order they don't fly away...

At long last yesterday I was visited by a pair of bee eaters. My photos are not great but I did manage to capture them before the big bad magpies frightened them away.

Such beautiful, melodious birds, thanks to all for the pics x

It's a good job that they seem to be able to tell male from female.
I could imagine some of them getting a bit of a shock if they couldn't!

Certainly where we live they are staying longer and flying a lot lower so we can see their beautiful plumage.

That's what I've noticed, here in Anoygra they usually only appear for a few days, but this year they have continued to delight us for much longer. I am lucky in that they tend to perch on the powerlines within yards of my house. so I also get to enjoy their wonderful colours.
