What new plans? Paphos harbour is part of the UNESCO protected Archaeological site. You can see the remains of the Roman Harbour wall...
Usually the Antiquities Dept are in opposition to doing anything to enlarge or deepen the harbour!

Wont happen folks,building is too expensive when there is already a Cruise port in Limassol they can use , these super cruise ships, need fuel,water, supply's, ... they can bus passengers to Pafos for excursions etc.

Perhaps something similar to this would work as I was impressed by the dock they built in Agios Nikolaos in Crete. Sometimes the larger cruise shops stuck out each end! Certainly a very busy place for the cruise ships and the holiday makers just walked ashore into the town where coaches and taxis were ready to take them on organised trips (if so desired).

It all comes down to cost, thats why I doubt if it will ever happen... Limassol is a half hour drive away.

If the tour company's want that , then they can all chip in and pay for it, but its not going to happen....Limassol is on the door step, cruise company's, moor up in Limassol, get fueled and supplied up... can sell excursions ( thats where they make a big chunk of money) to most parts of the island...cruise ships dont make any money by dropping passengers of in Paphos so they can have a walk round the Harbor.

I think that I’m correct in thinking that as Hudswell said, Limassol is more centrally positioned, and has all the facilities necessary for cruise ships, its logical for cruise ships to stop there. The seas around Paphos are shallower and very rocky, also Paphos area is very exposed to strong westerly winds... Limassol harbour has deeper water and is more sheltered. It would be very expensive and would certainly wreck the archaeology at Paphos if the harbour was to be enlarged, deepened and the necessary tons of steel and concrete used for construction would add up to a disaster..
Maybe, an off shore pier for cruise ships could be built at the new marina? But thats in the wrong place really and too far from Paphos anyway.
When the cruise ships arrive in Limassol, passangers have a choice of excursions, Troodos is very easily accessible, Curium (Kourion) is close by and a trip to Nicosia is also very easily done. And Paphos is easily accessible too...

Paphos is fine in Good weather! But add wind or storm to this situation and it it is too rough to transfar passengers to anything! When the weather is not deemed safe those cruise ships would go straight to Limassol anyway. As has been said by others transfer time by road from Limassol docks to Paphos is only about 1hr.
Having been on cruises myself, I know how long its takes for passangers to disembark even onto a concrete dock, transfers to a tender takes even longer especially wth elderly people. On grounds of cost and also the impact of building berthing facilities for huge vessels like cruise ships on a little harbour like Paphos it hardly seems worth it.
