Drama as flight forced to make emergency landing after 'technical' issues

Emergency services were scrambled as a flight bringing holidaymakers back to Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing last night.
The drama unfolded shortly before 6pm.
The TUI flight from Paphos in Cyprus raised the alarm as it was coming into land at Manchester Airport.
An airport source said the Boeing 757 plane reported an issue with its flaps.
Passengers on the ground reported seeing emergency services including police, paramedics and firefighters racing to the terminal.
Flight radar maps also showed the plane circling over Cheshire before coming into land.
The aircraft, which was due at 5:50pm, landed safely just before 6:20pm and safely taxied to the terminal building.
However several passengers took to social media to say there was tension on-board during the landing.
One from Timbo on Twitter said: "Dicey landing succeeded on second attempt at Manchester airport from Paphos . Fresh undies needed."
Another said: "Slightly odd track at Manchester Airport. We didn't book to go to Macclesfield."
A spokeswoman for TUI said: "We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers travelling on flight TOM2337 from Paphos to Manchester this evening (12th September 2018).
"Due to a technical issue and as a precautionary measure, the aircraft conducted a priority landing into Manchester airport.
"The aircraft landed safely and the flight was met by emergency services in line with standard procedures."
It was the second flight on Wednesday which declared an emergency near Manchester.
Earlier in the day, a Jet2 flight, also to Paphos, which had taken off from Leeds Bradford was forced to divert to Manchester Airport due to engine issues.
