Old town Cementography

You could be forgiven for not knowing anything about Cementography. It is a modern, Cypriot art form, that was celebrated in the dying days of Paphos 2017 by the placement of eight murals in and around Paphos Old Town. You may well have seen some of them on your travels, and some have featured in previous blogs. However, the murals actually depict different stages in a Cypriot fairy tale, so we thought it about time we presented the murals in order, with the accompanying story attached...

Just had a look and it is fascinating. I have been past some of the murals but hadn’t stopped to read the text, not realising that there is an English translation! Hope that someone comes along who can translate the Greek on the 3rd one...

Glad you liked it. I don't think I would have been able to find them all had I not found that map of them.

Yes, it cropped up in the sanitized version of the folk song:
Arodafnousa told him that she never stopped thinking of him and loving him but their love was bitter like the poisonous juice of the arodafni plant. And then she closed her eyes forever. "Arodafni" is a typical Cyprus bush with beautiful flowers but poisonous leaves that is especially found in Paphos district and its name reminds us of Arodafnousa's story.
