Any body know what type of birds flew over today aver 100 of them quite high up

Geese, had a couple of flocks late on on a couple of evenings. I’ve got a photo but can’t post it.

Geese would be unusual at this time of year, you don't usually see them before October/November! Without seeing a photo it's impossible to say but my guess would be Cormorants as they start to flock in large numbers at this time of year & fly in formation like Geese.

All I saw in Letymbou today was a mixed kebab at the Letymbou Tavern.

Might they be cranes? Most unlikely to be geese.

Morning all...the birds were Demoiselle Cranes.A guy called the Cyprus Birder on Facebook captured some really good photos of 110 flying over Marathounda.

That fits ……………… August/September is their autumn migration time through Cyprus!

Yep that is them on facebook I counted over 150 birds so high up hard to get a good photo just had a mobile phone

I stand corrected, realised after posting that they weren't honking like the ones last week.

Morning Max...another good twitcher to follow on FB is “The Blond Birder”.Very informative and his last post also mentions the cranes.Have a lovely day.

We see these cranes every year in Latchi in September, love them.

Was at the Barber of Serville opera tonight and guess what ……………… a flock of around 50 Demoiselle Cranes flew overhead, making their cronking flight call, at around 9.30pm!
