The government launched a public consultation on a new bill stipulating higher road tax for owners of cars exceeding acceptable limits for exhaust emissions and atmospheric pollutants while offering incentives to those choosing to buy low-emission vehicles....

Amazes me how numerous old pick ups and twin cabs pass their emissions tests many the time I have just pulled over to the roadside when behind one of these types of vehicle labouring intensivly up a hill chucking outs clouds of black smoke from the exhaust as if it was the norm ....

I was told by a Cypriot quite a few years back that some of the old timers here have never registered their vehicles, so they don't get reminders to have MOT etc. It might well be an untruth of course! We had a reminder from Nicosia a few days ago that our MOT is due in about 3 weeks. It is true some of them belch out obnoxious black smoke when they are labouring!

How can you observe whether they have a license or not?
