The Anti-Corruption Bureau has recently received increased complaints from both citizens and officials from the Post Office of Cyprus, that they have received a number of SMS messages, but also through Facebook and more generally on the Internet, that Cyprus Post has selected several subscribers to enable them to win latest state-of-the-art mobile phones. They also use the official emblem of the Cypriot Post Office to mislead them.
These messages are misleading and are intended to mislead users in a variety of ways, such as sending personal details, access to personal electronic accounts / online services, and / or their online bank accounts. Fraud may also involve paying money to crooks.
We urge the public to be particularly careful about such misleading messages and to delete them immediately.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau is available to the public or companies to report a complaint, and the public is invited to visit the Police Internet sites at www.cypruspolicenews.com / www.police.gov.cy/ application / in cybercrime for reference.
