This time of the year a lot of animals are very thirsty and try to get water even from the pool. As I am really upset to find all kind of them drowning in my pool I fixed a lifesaving old garden hose across the pool and I was lucky enough to photograph this episode.....

After a slow ride of ca. 10 minutes, he arrived on the other side and disappeared in the bushes...I am sure he did not like the relative cold water which reduces his body temperature a lot, hence the slow speed.... :) but what, he survived :D

We have seen two Chameleons near our house recently, sadly one got run over on the track... There is very little water up here, apart from a trough supplied by the forestry people I think. They certainly have some kind of rangers uniform on

Lovely photos. I hate fishing out dead lizards too. Was he doing his cautious walk bit or was he having a bit of a scuttle?

Well, he did NOT what they normally do: like two steps ahead and one back. Instead he was groping his way slowly slowly as his weight was sometimes too much and he went a bit under the water....hence it took 10 minutes to cross the 10 meters. Here a pic from the last bit of the walk out of the pool, where one can see that he already changes his colour to match the surrounding stones...
