Carrying food from UK to Cyprus

Hi,
I'm making another visit to Cyprus soon from the UK, and asked friends if they wanted anything from the UK. Usual shopping list iPOD cables etc.
Then rather surprisingly someone asked for Pork Pies. I've searched the forum and the CY.GOV website but can't see info on food for 'personal consumption'.
If I pack pork pies vacuum packed in the hold luggage will it be ok?
Cheers
Ian

Answer yes.

The only problem I ever had was taking Red Leicester cheese in hand luggage.

When its scanned it looks like explosive and then you have to have a full search og hand luggage - put the cheese in the hold - no problem

I remember the days we used to pack Danish back bacon, frozen and wrapped in tinfoil into the bottom of our hold luggage whenever and wherever we went on self-catering holidays.

Then I discovered I actually enjoyed that "foreign" streaky stuff they called bacon and we stopped taking it after that :-)

Yep, we were given pomegranate seeds by the Tupperware full to take back to UK with us one year for a friend of ours whose son was at Manchester University. He was ever so pleased to get them while we were left wondering how long it took her to pick them all out of the peel with a pin ;-)

Thanks for the replies, I'll let you know if the unusual contents get through. Looking forward to 3 weeks in the sun looking out for places to retire to

Well done. And lucky you. ))
Pomegranate seeds are incredibly healthy. Anti-cancer properties, apparently.
I must admit I find them a little bitter. But... I try and eat some along with the more tasty bits. )
