Police undertake noise pollution campaign in Paphos

An operation against noise pollution was undertaken by police in Paphos on Saturday night.As part of the operation three night spots in Latsi and Polis Chrysochous were inspected.Compact discs, mixers, speakers and megaphones were confiscated and the owners of the nightspots charged in writing....

Good point mouse about motorcycles we where woken up at 1.30 am this morning by one racing around Paphos and we live in Konia so that will tell you how loud it was!

However usually these noise pollution police exercises are against clubs and bars making too much noise... not individual cars and bikes! However unless the police have acquired some recognised noise meters which can show the number of decibels which are causing the loud noise, it is pretty difficult to make a prosecution stick to allow a conviction I would imagine...

I can certainly remember reports from a year or more ago, about the police confiscating DJ equipment but they had no meters to measure the noise..
