Scorpions

Over the thirty or so years I've been coming to and living in Cyprus I've seen a couple of tiny Scorpions usually out in rocky areas but last night the wife found one about 50mm (2inches) long in the hallway of our place; in fact she accidentally stood on it. The neighbour found a nest of them in his garden; I don't know if it's the unusual weather but it's advisable not to walk around in bare feet. The stings don't usually kill but are very painful, a poster on PL I know was stung on the arm and can confirm this. Be careful.

Well, when you live in an undisturbed urban area like you do Jim, you can enjoy the real Cyprus but also have to cope with nature... :) like I do.

one of the many scorpions I found in my pool or around in a similar size....

They are more common than you think but usually well hidden in rocks and wood piles. Shine a UV light at night and if any are around they will show up as white against a dark back ground.
