I am quite surprised that there are fields of wheat near us that have not been harvested.

They are still harvesting at the moment. I could hear a tractor in the distance this evening.

On Wednesday night about 10pm I could smell smoke. I could see a fire had been lit on the other side of my line of plants and trees. I went out to see what was happening when a gust of wind sent flames high into the air above my hedge. Terrified I tried to make my way back to the bungalow when I was cascaded by burning embers falling down into the garden. I saw that there was also a fire at the rear of the property within feet of the trees. Neighbours were knocking on my door. I managed to get the cat into her basket, collect my bag, mobile phone etc., and evacuate. Then I got my car off the driveway as it was full of petrol. There were a lot of people around trying to help extinguish the fire and eventually the firefighters arrived and put the fires out.
The property was at risk and I could well have been asleep. According to the firefighters, the fires were started deliberately.

What kind of people put lives and property at risk?
All is well, however, I think it will take me a while to not go looking for fires every night before retiring.
Edit : The firefighters had to attend 3 deliberately set fires this particular evening.
