I have been looking at..
https://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en# ... ;dc=0;ra=1;
Which is supposed to be a Real Time lightening map with just a few seconds delay..
At present it shows Cyprus clear of any lightening strikes..
Lies lies all lies. We are in the middle of a lightening storm with many strikes and much rain.
Has anyone got a better site than the one listed above ??

We were parked above Kourion yesterday, just before 1300, and our car was hit by a lightning strike. Very loud bang and blue flash followed by smoke coming through the dashboard! It was raining so hard that we just opened the doors ready to jump out if the car burst into flames, but luckily it did not. A long journey back to Paphos on a tow truck...

I am using this one :

and decided today not to go for lunch at Timi Beach....
You can find it also on PL - webcam - external webcams - Cyprus Storms live - on the right hand side...

I assume you mean lightning not lightening - (the grammar police are on duty today)
Yes, you are correct twice

Trev, I use Cyprus storms as well. Very handy for deciding when to unplug the wireless internet!

DSS recommend unplug Trevor. Th surge risk is through the EAC cables, we had a close shave over the winter when a surge protector toe blew in a really nasty storm but saved our expensive Mac.

Well what happens if you go out for the day... or have a trip to say.. Larnaca. Do you turn everything off in case there is thunder and lightening. ??

We've never unplugged any of our devices. I will save open files. That's it. We lost power during most of the recent storms, along with other parts of Polemi. Usually comes back on after half an hour or so.

So you think the advice from DSS is unnecessary Dominic? I rather unplug than get the blame later on.
One of their many warnings which effected hundreds of their customers:
"As we do every year, can we remind everyone that it is highly inadvisable to leave our equipment or any other sensitive equipment plugged in and running with these storms overhead, at least 5 people that we know of have lost their computers today due to surges caused by the storms, several had surge protectors fitted so do not rely on these devices. We always recommend for your safety that you unplug our equipment from the mains and also any other electrical device that you value, or purchase a UPS (Uninterpretable Power Supply) for these devices."

We aren't with DSS Max. Good job too, because if we followed that advice we would be unplugging everything every time we went out, and the Polemi webcam would be down far more frequently than it is.

We have good surge protectors as well (Brennenstuhl) but we unplug as belt and braces approach as whilst the risk is low, the impact in remote working with offices back UK to my wife would be significant.
No Polemi webcam low impact to us - I just look out of the window! LOL etc

What about external pool pumps and solar panels? Surely they are a much bigger risk, cost-wise?

Then you are buggered, except you are sure that your insurance company will pay for the damage.
