Running Out of Space on E: Drive?

I am constantly getting messages that I am running out of space on my E: drive.

My hard drive is partitioned into a C: and E: drive.

In Windows Explorer I open E: Drive and get the message 'This folder is empty'. However when right clicking on my mouse and choosing properties it does in fact show that there is not much space left, hence the message.

Anybody any ideas?

Running Windows 10

Is your recycle bin on your E drive?

How big are your two drives?

I appear to have 2 recycle bins, one on each drive. After being asked if I wanted to clean up drive E: it showed that the amount of space that could be recovered by emptying the recycle bin on that drive was NIL.

Drive C: 465GB of which 72GB used
Drive E: 498GB of which 461GB used

If I had to guess at anything, I would guess that at some point you set up a backup system, which has created a hidden file on Drive E. This backs up your data, and has gradually been getting bigger and bigger.

Does that ring any bells?

Maybe you need to alter the size of the two partitions? (But not sure how - google)

Alternatively, move some stuff (documents, pictures, videos, music perhaps?) to the C drive

Needs to "show hidden files" set so all files will show in internet explorer

But wouldn't that show up as file(s) on the drive and not show an empty directory?

Show hidden files box is ticked.

Can you see system files as well?

Also, are you expecting it to be empty or are you expecting there to be data on it?

I can see nothing on that drive. I thought all my data files were on that drive but they are under 'user' on the C: Drive.

I think it's going to need a visit to Computer SOS

The system files would be hidden too, in a different way.

Open up Explorer
Click View
Click Options
Click on the View tab.
Scroll down and you will see an option with something like "Hide operating systems files (recommended)"
Uncheck that, and see what you can see on D:
Check it again afterwards though.

But yes, something is basically odd. I'm sure Computer SOS will be able to help though.
