5,241 visits to the clinics and laboratories at the cardiology clinic of Paphos since the beginning of the year

In a report of the work of the cardiology clinic of the General Hospital of Paphos in the first four months of 2018, the director of the Joseph Mouteris Clinic, according to which from 1 January until 30 April 2018, 5,241 visits were made to the clinic and cardiology clinics, and 316 patients were hospitalized.
Also, 1,054 cardiac and carotid ultrasounds, 493 fatigue tests, 191 24-hour rhythm test, 46 dynamic ultrasound and 35 diaphragm were performed. During this period, Mouteri said, 26 interventions for pacemaker placement.
A total of 126 patients were referred to the General Hospital of Limassol for coronary angioplasty, of whom 30, with acute myocardial infarction, for primary angioplasty.
Fifteen patients were sent to Nicosia General Hospital or private centers through the grant scheme for heart surgery.
Also eight patients were discharged for electrophysiological and catalysis treatment, and 17 for radiopharmaceutical assay.
Of all hospitalized patients, 40% are patients with coronary artery disease, 25% patients with arrhythmias, mainly atrial fibrillation, 20% with heart failure, and the remaining 15% other heart disease, or just a chest pain or dyspnoea.
The average duration of hospitalization is four days, with the longest hospitalization duration for patients with chronic heart failure, the announcement concludes.
