Two years ago this peach tree had a nasty disease and I was pruning the whole thing down to the stem. This year it looks more promising and it is very early to have fruits soon to pick...

I hope that there is not a bad surprise when you cut them in half later on...

but so far I think they look mouth watering..

I must admit to eating Peaches and Nectarines when they are hard to firm, don't wait until they go soft. I think the ones that go black inside have been over watered.

More likely a problem is the Mediterranean fruit fly later on, and then you have a lot of "meat" in the fruits...

Max- do like the Hungarians do, and distill some fiery 'Pálinka' (fruit Brandy) from them!

Plums, pears, peaches, apricots, cherries, etc, all do the trick very nicely. I've tasted home-made brews that were over 50 degrees proof! (Hic!)

All very much crystal clear, and each with their own very distinctive flavour, too...

AL ;)

My favourite "snaps" from fruits is a Williamine, produced in Switzerland from William pears... Yummy, specially the one from Morand company!

Don't know Max, but we had a German friend who always asked for a Poires Williams after a meal. I loved the bottle and the drink !
