I am assuming the ongoing thunderstorm is island wide and not just localised to Polemi...

Yep, certainly no watering of gardens needed today.. Which is good as I can have a well needed lie in..
Not much sleep last night, because the dog is frightened of thunder and Lightening

I empathise with your dog. Really not keen on thunder & lightning either. As a child, if we were out in a bad storm, my mum used to hold my hand to reassure me (and her!). I had to ask her to stop when I was 19....it was slightly embarrassing

Nice Twister in Coral Bay
Can I post that picture on our Facebook group please? It's very good. And if you have a higher res version and you mail it to me, I can add it to our gallery. We've got a couple of twister shots but we can't really have enough of them. Very nice indeed.

Talking is good too. Not everybody has a camera.

You are right Dominic, so I will mention the lovely fresh smell outside right now, which we won't have when the real summer appears. The drop in morning temperature is also amazing. For 2 weeks I had 20c before sunrise, but today it was only 11c before the thunder started..

Weather update now 8.45 AM, the air is so clear that Amargeti village looks like nearby, but it is 10 km away from me. That means the dust is gone...

Had a thunderstorm here, started just before 7am, hail stones, followed by heavy rain for about 30 mins, but continues to rain on and off up to now. The dust has gone the hills are showing clearly, though the view beyond Paphos of the sea to the horizon is still murky.
I have turned off the irrigation in the garden which is good, though the rain water has been quickly absorbed by the dry earth. The plants love the cooler temps and the rainfall!

First night since arriving that we have not had the fan on in the bedroom. Still light rain in Anarita after some heavy downpours during the night. Looks as if it was clean rain as windows much cleaner than yesterday.

Yes, unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, scent , along with touch, are the two senses that can never be conveyed through a blog. I keep meaning to invest in a decent microphone, so I can record some of the night time sounds of Polemi. By this I mean the frogs and crickets!

Lots of rain last night in Polemi for certain - irrigation off! Set off for Larnaca airport this morning at 7am, the road down to the general hospital / post office like a river as usual, the motorway very wet but dry, day 15 or 20mins beyond Paphos airport exit and bone dry in Limmasol. On the way back temp dropped from 22 in Limmasol to 15 at the Paramali exit. About 30km from Paphos you could a huge grey area covering the area. Cloud now breaking up and very pleasant, and seemingly dust free according to the stats and my view.
