Lunch suggestions please?

Let us say we're staying in a 5* Hotel, like I will be, on Full Board. I don't intend blowing myself out on the buffet breackfast, as I want to leave a little room for a small lunch, and in turn, my evening meal later.

Question is- what sort of light lunch? So far, I've come up with these ideas:

1. Cheeseburger (no chips)
2. Battered fish w. lemon and tartare (no chips)
3. Whatever Pasta is going, with Parmesan
4. Village Salad with bread and butter
5. Mini Meze, all the dips plus olives and bread and butter
6. Cold platter, like cheese, ham and tomatoes, bread and butter

Any other ideas for a light Cypriot lunch, please?

Thanks- AL :?

It depends on the weather as well I think, when it's cold I would like a nice soup for lunch served with some bread or an omelet with ham and cheese. When it's nice and warm a mixed platter or a nice salad.

Cheese toastie with salad, omelette and salad, or choose from the children's menu for smaller portions......

Two over easy eggs, with fried halloumi, and some crusty bread does it for me.

It's a buffet service Al. The evening meal had a wide variety of options. You can pig out on the starters if you want, or fling yourself at the cheese selection. The mains are yummy too. If lunches are anything like that you can have whatever you want.

A light Cypriot lunch could be: 2-3 scrambled eggs with zucchini slices, slightly fried in olive oil together with onions, and to finish with dried mint on top. (this was a dish always served when one ordered Mezze in the past) Of course you fry the zucchini slices until they have colour, before adding the eggs. A bit a garlic won't hurt! Low calories, plenty protein!

We always go for a cheese and ham toastie when we are out at lunch time. On holiday, in a hotel, we have a good breakfast, without pigging out, usually miss lunch or have a light snack and then a normal sized evening meal, again without pigging out.

On cruises, again we watch what we eat, and when we go out for the day will miss lunch and then have a light afternoon tea before eating around 8pm.
Depends what the hotel offers. On full board, rather than half, they might provide pack lunches. When we used to stay on half board at the Imperial, the option was open to swop your evening meal for a midday meal, which we often did so we could savour the atmosphere of local restaurants.

A six inch (half size) subway, with a selection of their fillings, I always include cheese, salad, sliced tomato, olives, green pepper with a meat filling.
Very light, tasty and cheap,

Thanks guys and gals for all your suggestions! All duly noted in my travel plans. Despite the fact there are still over 8 months to go, my lips are already drooling, LOL!

I just need to avoid the temptations of pigging out at the breakfast buffet, and stick to my regular regime, like at the Veronica in February this year. Sliced orange, cornflakes and milk, and a couple of freshly fried eggs with bacon and beans or mushrooms, plus a couple of cups of tea, of course.

You wouldn't believe what the Russians eat for breakfast (and it what order they eat it).

Thanks all- AL :D

How about a souvlaki in pitta at the Olive Tree in Polemi? Plenty of meat and plenty of salad. I challenge you to eat it as the locals do, i.e. without using knife and fork, and without dropping any bits! 😀

Re the Russians. Yes we would believe it.

We were up at Nata last year for the Sunday buffet. Coach load of Russians came in. They piled everything onto one plate, starters, main and dessert, and ate the lot in one sitting. After that, I believe everything.

Had similar many times at the Parasma Taverna in Timi, by the PFO turn. Smashing grub, no knives and forks, no bits dropped, accompanied naturally by a large cold bottle of Carlsberg. Most times, I used to take half of the kebab back to the flat, to microwave for supper, as they were so BIG!
