The only way that might stop people from speeding is speed cameras in regular use. One day only concentrating on this problem surely is only a token gesture.

Perhaps the best solution is to use smart average speed cameras with NPR (Number Plate Recognition)?

This system would pay for itself in no time at all, when installed on all motorways and A roads. As well as toning down the 'speedy' of many drivers on their journey!

Most of my car trips these days are to Tesco and back, all on 30mph roads. Makes me really laugh when a car doing 60mph overtakes me, only to have to stop at the next red light, when I stop alongside the twit...

AL :)

Where do you get the ''only a fraction of the population have readable no''. plates?, the majority of cars I see have the readable white plates front and back.

WHL, how many motor cycles and or quad bikes do you see with no number plate or if there is one it is at such an angle it cannot be read.

Also many articulated lorries do not have the index number of the vehicle and only the trailer index number shown on it.

Also get yourself around the villages and see how many old pick ups and 'local' vehicles do not have any index numbers shown at all.

The next issue is that a lot of vehicles are registered to a PO Box number rather than an address which makes it very difficult to serve summons/tickets etc.

May I politely suggest that you get a life, and channel your pedantic tendancies somewhere that they'll be appreciated?!
And may I politely suggest when you post, on an open forum, you should not be upset if someone picks you up, you said.. '' BUT only a fraction of the population has the readable number plates! '', and I asked you if you had a link or some facts regards this,, your reply was to throw your toys out of the pram,.... with respect, I dont think you have grasped how forums work,

WHL, err no the opening gambit on this thread mentioned 600 speeding vehicles so to me that includes cars, HGV's, quads and motor cycles. You are the one that mentioned cars!

Do you have any proof that you cannot register a vehicle to a PO Box number? (Links or facts will do)

I was replying to someone who said a fraction of cars had readable plates, it was you who said many people register their cars to PO boxs, its up to you to provide any facts if some one asks you....Do you know of ONE person that has actually done that,. cheers

They do. They turn up at your house. If you aren't there you can phone them back, and they will tell you that you will be hearing from them. About a year later somebody phones you up, and you drive down to Paphos to meet them. They serve you the papers and then your court case goes down in Limassol. What happens after that is anybody's guess. At no point do they actually do anything radical like post you a letter.

Mine was a parking fine. I thought they were paying me a compliment.

Boom! Boom!

Now, all of you squabbling, stop it. If you don't like somebody, just block them. It is as simple as that. If you haven't blocked them from now on, I will assume you don't actually mind talking to them.
