Laptop photos problem

I have a Lenovo laptop running windows 10, and I use firefox .

I have Picasa3 as a photo store and editor.. Until around 7 days ago if I was a picture on screen that I liked I pressed the 'Print screen' button and it appeared in the 'screen captures' in Picasa...
I could then lighten it, and crop it etc.. Then in Picasa i would press the 'Export' button in Picasa to send the picture to a 'Folder on my Hard Disc' My pictures\Picasa\Exports\ (and the name I give the picture).

However when I try to find the picture instead of being in My Pictures it is in a Temp, file with no name.
So in recent days all the pictures I have saved, I can find under Temp file with numbers up to 30 or more..
So now instead of being able to find a picture by searching for 'Paphos Fort' It is somewhere in Temp files... ????

Any easy ideas to get back to pictures being saved in my picture files with the name I gave it. ???

I have reinstalled Picasa. No change..

I did mention some time ago Picasa is no longer supported for updates, although you can still use it.(maybe the problem?)

Very true, it is as you say no longer supported. But you can still download a new copy.
I tend to think it is Not the Picasa program but the laptop.. :-(

I do have another old laptop, but no Picasa on that one. However I will download Picasa onto it and see how that performs. It will take a few hours to load all the photos though.

Last night I downloaded Picasa onto my older laptop. It is working on there just fine. If I export a picture with a name added to it, it is stored under that name on the laptop.
I also refreshed Firefox on the (newer) laptop I am on at the moment . But that is still storing pictures in a Temp file. I am up to 'temp 54' at the moment. The problem is and will be, finding them in the future Grrrr.

How is your disk partitioned? Are you trying to export to a folder that is on a partition that is almost full?

Say you have one disk, and it is partitioned into two drives. C and D.

If you are trying to save to drive D, but it is full, then perhaps it is failing, and your temp files are just the intermediary?

Alternatively, it could be some weird permissions thing on the folder, so try creating a new folder and exporting to that?

Sadly, despite using the laptop all day, I am not very computer savvy :-(
But I have looked under 'This PC' on my desktop, and I can see two drives, the DVD player and C drive.
C drive has 280gb free out of a total of 464gb..

All was working fine until about 7 days ago... I have tried to look up on the laptop what the problem may be.. I can see where it says that this may happen if there is an unusual shutdown..

But frankly it is beyond me, and unfortunately SOS as well :-(

You could try 'system restore' back to a point before the trouble started...

I did wonder about doing that. But computer shops seem to frown upon that being done..
I did try opening a new file for the pics to go into, but even though I typed that into the 'send field' they went into a temp folder. I now have almost 60 temp folders ie 1 to 58 so I cannot remember what picture goes with which numbered folder.. :-(

Ha ha.. I told you I was hopeless at technology.. I thought I would try a 'restore' to an earlier date. I clicked various buttons and chose a restore point. Then after a while a message came on screen saying something like there was a problem and the restore had not happened :-(
A message told me I could try again with the Anti virus turned off. I did this but still got the same message saying that the restore did not happen :-(
