I suppose it all depends on how good your eyesight is ;)

"Is it wrong to have that size?"

No of course not, some folks have little sense of humour, but in today's TV world they are considered too small for most rooms, the norm now I read is 42" but I would also find that too small, both of my Samsungs are 52" the next one I buy (god willing) will be larger, amazing how you get used to a larger screen..

My subwoofer has NO feet!! :D but it does sound terrific, honesty! and not too bassy either.

We have a 32" TV too, and it is plenty big enough. We only have the one as well. We have a couple of computer monitors, but they are smaller. One is for our daughter's PC, the other is for the office PC, which is soon to be replaced.

No problem if that size suits of course, but I am a big TV watcher, as I do not go out so much now, so TV size I find larger than 32" is for me, in fact, the next set will be another Samsung but a 62" as my old eyes fail in life you need a big screen, also like to get away from what the good wife watches too, two MAGs and blu-rays all look better on a larger TV I feel, but if TV is not that important then 32" is maybe enough?, my PCs both use Sammy 32" monitors and that is fine for me, I am only inches away from that screen... :ugeek:

Now TV sound what this thread is about, well that is another thing altogether.

Happy watching.

If you need a 32 inch monitor for a computer screen you really should consider getting your eyes tested.

Dom my old office in the UK always had 32" CRT monitors and that was twenty years ago, they said they were indeed better for long time use, and I agree, go try one.

A rather nasty comment from you Dom, I have my eyes tested every year now, I am diabetic.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's great for you Austin but NOT for me, far too small. Once you use a large screen TV you will not go back to the tiny 32" believe me. give one a try, I have used 32" for years, I know now what I prefer.

See that short video on what is considered normal now, it also gives you a way to measure what TV screen is best for your room..

It's all down to personal preference of course, but I have been in homes where there is a 42" TV, and it dominated the room, not for me.

Well, my 52" will send you bogeyed then Jackie :geek: you soon get to appreciate the larger screen, in fact, small sets look rather punny to us now.

Most TV buyers now go for the 42" screen size, but I would go for the larger size, see that mathematical work out in that video.

Films and sport look fantastic on larger TV's especially blu-ray films. 3D now your talking, cannot see the point of smart TVs to be honest, absolutely pointless and useless.

Wind your neck in. I wasn't being nasty at all. Real PC monitors tend to be between 15" and 25" in size. You can use an ordinary TV but you don't get the same definition, or you didn't in the old days, anyway. Even CAD professionals tend to use 22" monitors, albeit two of them. Besides, you are dealing with pixels. The bigger the monitor the bigger the pixel. When it's across the other side of the room it doesn't matter, but up close on a computer screen is a different matter.

I would genuinely say to anybody who had to use a 32" screen as a computer monitor that they should get their eyes checked. The same as if they said they were getting headaches or what have you. If you want to see that as nasty then it is your issue. It wasn't.

That's how I feel too. I could understand if you had a special room for one, like a home cinema, but in the lounge, it just takes the whole room over.

Thank you, Lloyd, someone who actually knows what he is talking about.

And Dom I do have a separate TV room, all to myself thanks. Now where to buy that 60" set and maybe a set of binoculars too :D

Back again to the OP thread "Sound", this is as important as a decent sized TV, if you are into films then a sperate sound system is just as important, you cannot expect TV sound to be perfect and the screen thickness does not allow decent speakers or woofers. OK, the neck wound back in.

Have a read of this, or don't they know what they are talking about either?

That link is an old one Dom and certainly not conclusive I feel.

Tell that to my old company, they used 32" CRT then, as I said twenty years ago, saying that they were better for long-term use, again, I agree.

The good thing about a larger screen size is editing, pictures and movie, but also text size does not need to be increased, a bit like Concorde why go backwards Dom? One day you will get a large screen TV then you may understand how great they are.

If you have friends calling do as we do switch the TV off!!

That link is 4 years old Jim. Hardly ancient. It was the first thing google threw up. Pros tend to use multiple screens, anyway.
