Has anyone been watching this new series ?
On at 3.45 uk time on BBC 1 .
The idea seams to be rent out your uk home to fund living in the sun for the winter .
The locations are mainly Spain , but Cyprus gets shown next Tuesday the 20th .
They make a fuss about having a swiming pool , but do not mention they are too cold to use in the winter months . And also when you have sunny day times , these counties get cold at night times .
Worth a watch .

The first time we went on holiday in Cyprus we stayed in a villa near Coral Bay. Our daughter was only a toddler, and I remember she didn't like the temperature of the pool water one bit. It was early June, but the pool was always shaded, so it was still bloody cold.
Must have been nice there in August having a cooler pool to swim in. But in June it was icy. In February it must have been freezing!

I watched the first one set in Portugal and was astounded by the high cost of renting there. The programme is a joke and could delude some people into thinking this is possible.
Absolutely no warning about letting out your home for 6 months and the tenants not moving out on the day you want to return. Possibly leaving you with a long drawn out court case to evict and nowhere to live. Or they do move out and you return to your home to find it dirty or trashed.
I enjoy these sort of programmes but this one is extremely irresponsible.

Probably as irresponsible as the ones you like. It's just that you know more about the specifics in this case.

Well I guess that the programmes remit doesn’t cover people who want to be helped by it in arranging rental details of their own home to cover their absence. Anyone renting their home out must arrange rental details which safeguard the type of tenancy which they want. In this case a short term one for 6 mths only.
Obviously, winter rents in different countries will vary, dependng on the size , location and area and demand there.

Dominic, I enjoy these type of programmes because I love looking at houses

But there are a lot of naive people out there and this programme is as bad as the agents who try to sell you a holiday home and lie about the amount of income you will get. I have only watched the one so far but it didn't ring true,to me anyway. I cannot believe anybody would think this a good idea. Except for the TV people who are running out of ideas.
Dee. In the UK there are tenancy agreements for 6 months but if the tenant does not move out on the agreed date the owner can only get them out by going to court.

I’ve only watched the Portugal destination I though it was for 3 months they wanted to escape for.......the programme was rushed at the end you saw them in Portugal but there was no mention whether they rented their U.K. home.......I thought they were quite insane even thinking about renting it for such a short term
This type of programme is quite entertaining especially the Channel 4 when people are looking for properties for £40K in Spain having never been to the location before but the one I enjoy the most is New Life in the Sun anew series has begun this week.

I’ve been following this series & like others I’m amazed at the prices & also the fact that people think that it’s great to have a pool with the property. Who wants to swim in an outdoor unheated pool in the winter? It will be interesting to see the one on Cyprus next week.

Haven't watched it yet... Will do Tuesday but as far as the pool is concerned I think people don't expect to swim in it, they just want to sit around it, even just look at it.
It's a novelty when you live in the UK
