Clampdown coming on cash payments of E10,000 and over

The House legal affairs committee on Wednesday launched discussions on setting a e10,000-ceiling for the cash purchase of vehicles, precious stones and metals, works of art and antiques....

Never mind not being practicable or enforceable, its an EU ruling so must be obeyed. In so any corrupt countries it is the only way to trade or get things done.

So a clampdown will be a good thing, as it will discourage the taking of bribes.
Personally, I see it as a weapon. If you are caught doing something dodgy but there is insufficient proof of the crime itself, they will be able to get you on the cash transaction. Like Capone getting done for tax evasion.

People constantly moan on how corrupt Cyprus is, then when they take measures to stop corruption, people still moan.....

You complain that the Cypriots dont enforce Traffic laws...yet this is what you posted a little while ago
