Last time we walked around Evretou Dam, we observed a solitary grave on the opposite bank, half way up a hill. After the blog was published we were approached by somebody who keeps a log of the Turkish Cypriot Graves on the island. He hadn't a record of this one, so I promised to revisit the area and get more information...

Lovely pics Dominic, full of atmosphere, matching the resting place of this person. No wonder your wife did not want to come with you when you see the sharp ascent.
And how can you expect that we could locate the pic with the fish...

I've seen the grave from across the dam, and wondered about it, so it was very interesting to see it up close through your photo.

Here is a photo of the grave (taken from the other side with a zoom), when the reservoir was completely full (and overflowing).

This answers the other day's mystery mosaic photo puzzle as well. I cannot believe the work and expense the families of passed away loved ones have put into remembering them. Utterly and absolutely awesome!

But actually a very strange place for a burial. Surely, on health and hygene grounds graves aren’t allowed close to a reservoir? Wonder who this man was?

Is it possible that it is a memorial to this gentleman, rather than an actual grave site?
Rather like a dedicated park bench? Either way he must have been much loved and respected.

I think that could be correct
