It is good for the farmers in the Polis district, but no reason to be too optimistic about the situation in Paphos district this summer. The capacity of the Argaka dam is less than 1 MCM of water, while all the dams have a capacity of 290 MCM. And that Evretou dam is overflowing soon is only a wishful thinking but a wrong comment in this article. Argaka dam was much more important 20 years ago when there was more farming than nowadays.
Many farmers sold their land to built houses as this was the quick money at the time....

Good news
Does anyone know if the overflow goes to the next dam like say Kannaviou?

From the article.... " The dam supplies water to all the agricultural pieces of land in the Argaka area. In addition it also feeds water to the Evretou dam which is also expected to overflow shortly. "

As Max says, I wouldn't get too excited as Evretou was only 35% full yesterday & even if you dumped all of Argaka's water into it, it would only make a small ripple!

That bit about the Evretou dam nearly overflowing is complete guff!

I can't wait to see it when it does eventually overflow, especially as I now know where to go to see it, but it is still very low at the moment.

As soon as their pipework, connecting Evretou dam with Asprokremnos dam is ready ( another 4-5 month), there will be no overflow in the near future..

The article means the Pomos Dam is going to overflow. The article previously stated Evretou is going to overflow, but it has been changed to Pomos.

The picture is still titled "Argaka Dam".

With regards to the pipe between Evretou and Asprokremmos, where is that going to run from and to?

I have no information where exactly the pipes run. Sure not easy as it has to run by gravity again. Here a copy of the google translation for the information which was recently in the press:

Race to prevent Paphos from thirsty

The WFD struggle now focuses on the construction and operation of the desalination plant in Paphos. The goal is to go through 2018 to meet the city's needs. Mr Manolis expressed hope that the procedures will be completed in order to begin supplying desalinated water to Paphos from the summer of 2019. He explained, however, that the Department does not sit tied hands waiting to do everything well in relation to the competition in progress.

He added that in order to avoid the risk of drinking water in Paphos in the summer of 2018, the Asprokremos and Euretos dams would be interconnected. The work, completed, will be completed in 6 to 8 months. According to Mr. Manolis, with the installation of pipelines for interconnection of the two dams, it will be possible to transport 10 thousand cubic meters a day from Kannavi. It is noted that Paphos' daily needs amount to 30 thousand cubic meters of water per day.
