Sumac spice will almost certainly be used in Lebanese restaurants, so one of these might tell you wear they source it. Reading up on the sumac plant, I'd be surprised if it wasn't cultivated in Cyprus for the Cypriot spice industry.

A stop-gap substitute can be found in lemon zest with added salt.

My wife thinks that they have in Smart, and or little Paps spice section. Not sure maybe Alapha sell it.

Doesn't the Spice House in Peristerona also have a stall at the Duck Pond market? You could perhaps phone them before market day, to ensure they bring some sumac down, and keep it under the counter for you, closer to home?

No as far as I know they don't have a stall there. They are once a month at Steni Market.

Thanks Austin. I've never used sumac before but I looked it up when you 1st posted and it sounds like something I'd like and wanted to try it. Working full time I don't have many chances to drive to Peristerona. Kolios Butchers, however, is not too far from the office.
