Does anyone know what this means please ? As far as I know, my laptop is working just fine, so whatever it is, it doesn't seem to affect anything.

Thanks

Jackie

Googled it and found that it's from Avast, although there is no mention of Avast or anti virus in the message. Apparently lots of people are having this message from them, it seems the only way to rectify the problem is to uninstall Avast, and download the new 2018 version.

This I have done, and we shall see if the problem is indeed solved.

Hi Jackie

Glad you sorted it yourself - I got fed up with avast and it's annoying pop-ups and problems so, I uninstalled it and put on Bit Defender (free) which currently is the best free AV in the latest Which magazine.

To be honest and when I got my first desktop I did use Avast and I think SOS will install for you as well. But the old adage you only get what you pay for and free anti virus only goes so far for protection.

You pays your money etc...

Avast AV totally wrecked my XP Pro platform back in April 2016, by removing the inbuilt IE7 browser (which so many other Windoze programs depend upon).

On my replacement Win7 machine, I installed Sophos Free AV and can 100% recommend it! No annoying nagware nor popups, it just does it's job quietly in the background. Favoured by many educational and university IT networks.

Yes I have since heard that Sophos is the best from other people.

I will see how we go.
