Hi guys need annual travel

insurance for 90 days per trip
both in our early seventies any recommendations wellcome

After a search on moneysupermarket.com they came out the least expensive, but with higher levels of cover than much dearer quotes. Aged 70 with declared pre-condition of COPD, it set me back £39 - not bad, I feel...

Best to declare any existing pre-conditions for both of you. Yes, it will raise the premium, but at least you'll both then be fully covered for all eventualities that might befall, including repatriation. It's also a good idea to check both of your EHIC cards expiry dates!

Do shop around for other quotes to compare with, though...

I found LV very competitive for annual travel cover, but I don’t have any pre-conditions.

If you are a member of the AA try them my partner had an excellent annual cover with pre-conditions

I feel you must always read very carefully what cover for what you are getting as these can vary tremendously from company to company

We always used StaySure when we lived in Cyprus too.

Oops! from Vic's OP, I assumed he was UK based, with regular long stays in Cyprus (and elsewhere maybe). Fill us in a bit more please, Vic!

thanks paphos al and all others Al is correct we are uk based but come out twice a year for 75 to 90 days hence insurance
but due to our ages 73 and 72 we are finding it hard to find company's that do 90 days.

Vic, we had the same problem. We come out twice a year for around the same number of days as you. We are 71 and 77 with pre existing conditions.

We eventually found Liverpool Victoria, LV, were the only company that suited us though not cheap at £400 per annum. That was until renewal last year. When I tried to renew we were declined as my husband was waiting for a medical procedure.

In the meantime while we were still insured he had a gallstone attack, first time, while in Paphos and spent a few days in the General. When I checked our policy he would not have been covered for admittance to a private clinic because of the reciprocal agreement in the EU. So medical cover wasn't much good.

As we were unable to get insurance we thought hard about what we really needed insurance for and came to the conclusion that it was only really needed for repatriation, dead or alive!

Think about all the things you are paying for that, if you have your own home here, you really can do without, especially at £400. We have never gone without insurance in the 30 years we have had a house in Paphos but now we have no choice. Sell up or come without insurance.

Of course if we went away for a holiday elsewhere then we would take out insurance but we wouldn't be looking at 90 days which seems to be the problem.

I think that as you are UK based, you might try Saga Travel Insurance. It’s not available to those who live outside the UK.

Do you think people don't try to find insurance to cover themselves? It's not that easy when you get to 75 and want to stay for 60 to 90 days with or without prescription existing conditions. Believe me. Just look at the ages and length of stay Photo Lady posted.
