Ray Thomas’s slightly gruff voice, undisguised accent, his storytelling-compositions like ‘Dear Diary’ and ‘Timothy Leary’ and his haunting flute, contrasted with the romanticism of the other guys, and made the Moodies something different. Theirs was music we lived with and loved to from the late-60s onwards.
RIP, Veteran Cosmic Rocker.
