Paul Pick a Lock is excellent. he did all ours and fitted snap proof locks on front and back doors also. Highly recommend him.

I would also vote for Paul at Pick a Lock. Very helpful, and does a good job. He put some nice locks on our patio doors, different for upstairs and downstairs with the downstairs ones being like this - https://www.lockshopdirect.co.uk/produc ... gLyJPD_BwE . Upstairs ones were also very good, much better than the ones you normally see on sliding doors.

As an afterthought, MM (might be useful info for other PL readers), but this is a fairly cheap DIY exercise. I did it in a 2 bed villa I was renting from a m8 on CL in Priamou St back in 2003.

All you need is an electric or battery drill. A 3mm HSS drill bit (to drill the aluminium frame for the pozidriv fixing screws, and for the pilot holes for the) 6.5mm HSS drill bit, for the locking pin. Plus of course, a medium pozidriv screwdriver.

The locks are available in all the DIY stores quite cheap. I did two sliding patio doors and three sliding windows for less than CY£10 in a day!

You position the lock centre bottom and drill two larger holes. One in the closed position, and the other that locks in a vent position, say a 20mm gap. Both positions prevent the patio door or window from being lifted out externally, as the whole frame is effectively one immovable component. No keys involved, either!

DIY'er and would probably make a hash of it, if even
I did own drill and bits ( which I don't ).

I'll take Lloyds advice and go for key-operated ones.

I agree you are making the right decision, MM! Especially if you are going with either of the two above recommended professional suppliers/installers...
