It does for me & I'm still non the wiser !!
Another total waste of money that could be spent on a far better cause.

Ramone, nor me, but it does say that 103 million Euros a year would be saved by having all business done in Brussels. Thank God we're leaving, what a waste of our money.

Lloyd
Nothing to do with logic, just a plain simple fact that the EU wastes vast amounts of public money for nothing. Kindly explain why Lloyd.

Probably because unlike the EU ( who have decided we owe them), the UK realises it has a moral obligation to leave without owing a "perceived" debt, we could have just walked away...and perhaps we will! And if I was an EU "bean counter" I wouldn't be banking that money yet.....

It isn’t just the EU that reckons we owe money, there’s commitments that are based around grants, pensions etc. Commitments the UK has accepted, irrespective of soft/hard/runny brexit. Our universities will suffer massively with loss of research grants. That’s an indication of the £170m a week that comes back to us.

The UK share of that €103 million is about €15 million so not to be sneered at and as my dad used to say look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves (or something like that!)Certainly I believe that the farming subsidies to millionaire farmers will cease on exit from the EU.
I read only the other day that there were 17 new EU legislations that the UK had voted against but were still implemented so despite contributing approx 14% of the EU budget which is a vast share, we had little say in the decisions made so I wish someone could explain how that benefits the UK. It seems to me we were just used as a cash cow!

Isn’t that democracy? Isn’t that what youve always said the Brexit vote was?
Also, I doubt all farmers in receipt of subsidies, are millionaires. NI, for example, receives the most in subsidies for any region in the UK, thats will devastate it.
I do however, agree that vast sums get wasted. Even more than we waste in the UK on foolish schemes and things like HS2 - that’ll be a 1st-class only service knocking 15 minutes off a journey. You live in the NE, an area sadly needing infrastructure investment.

Yes Jim it probably is democracy but it just goes to show to my mind that we have so many different opinions and needs than other EU countries so are best on our own! As to farming subsidies I am confident that they will continue to be paid by the UK but hopefully only where needed!
As to the NE requiring infrastructure you are correct of course but it does look as though this is improving - the A1 has finally got the go ahead to expand to a dual carriageway in the parts where unbelievably it is still only single lane and money has already been promised for improvements to the metro system so it is improving albeit slowly!!

I too read that article which could be misleading when you look at this para and I quote "However the university pointed out that it has also recruited a large number of EU staff so the overall numbers were largely similar."
