Today I got my new bill from EAC for electricity period 28.9.-28.11.17 and comparing with the last one before, the costs for 1 kW unit are higher.
With this new tariff 01-domestic I have to pay now 20.2 cent per kW. Before with tariff 5 it was 18.4. cent/kW and I had the pool pump running more hours than now, hence: higher consumption. So far for the cheaper electricity prices announced in many papers a couple of month ago
OK, all the clever people with a Solar net-metering system installed on their roofs won't be affected... but the majority will

Those who have night storage heating are now paying through the nose (no tariff reduction). I had it and, before the 'reduction', was paying anything up to €1500/winter; it would have increased by about 40% after the 'reduction'. This autumn, I scrapped it and replaced it by gas CH. Already, I see reductions over the old tariff, even before the cold weather sets in. At the same time, the comfort is 100% better.

I see there are three tariff types for domestic users. I haven't read the full document but would Code 2 in the new Tariff Types be applicable for off-peak supply? https://www.eac.com.cy/EN/CustomerServi ... 202017.pdf

Regarding previous comments:
Based on the new tariff methodology, EAC said, most customer categories will benefit from an average reduction of about four per cent.
There are certain categories, however, such as storage heaters, water pumping, street lighting and large industrial customers, for which the new cost-orientation methodology would have led to increases. http://cyprus-mail.com/2017/08/02/new-e ... consumers/
