Who knows of someone who could fix a problem (CD slot won't open) with the B & O Beosound 1 in the Paphos area.

I do not believe that there is a B+O mechanic or repair facility in Cyprus. Two year's ago my 40 year old B+O system gave up the ghost. Having contacted several specialist stereo outlets (not in Paphos) one of them in Nicosia contacted a friend who is a former B+O specialist who confirmed that my system could not be repaired (not surprising as the parts were no longer available) and that to his knowledge there was no facility on the island. You may have to do what I did and let your B+O go and buy new equipment.

You may want to have a chat to these people. If anyone knows a repair shop, they will.

Meanwhile, Louise, you could try the following first aid trick.

Near to the Eject button on the facsia of the CD tray, you 'should' find a tiny hole. Partially straigten out a paper clip, then insert into the hole until it stops (about 10mm), then gently press. The tray should pop out enough for you to pull it out the rest of the way.

It might allow you to see if anything looks amiss with the mechanism inside. CD drives are pretty generic lumps of hardware, so I doubt if B+O actually manufactured it themselves. With that in mind, you might find that any decent Hi-Fi repair shop could possibly fix the issue for you.

Look again please, Louise (I'm a poet but don't know it)

The hole I'm talking about is tiny, about 0.5mm diameter, and hard to spot if the cd front panel is coloured black. But it's a vital rescue aid for any CD / DVD drive... Look closer please, maybe with a torch (and possibly reading glasses, like me, LOL!)

AL

I'm confused. Google says the beosound 1 is a wireless speaker. It doesn't mention a cd player.

Must have been planned obsolescence by B&O :D

Very simple. Mine was bought in 2005. Since then they made completely different models and system. Been in contact with B & O in Holland. Working on a solution now.

In the old days, all Bang and Olufsen hi-fi kit was proudly manufactured in Denmark..
