I had a drive around the old town this morning and it looked as though the Agapinor Hotel had closed down.
Does anyone know when it closed? and will it be reopening?

Their website doesn't mention anything. However, it does have a contact number.

http://www.agapinorhotel.com.cy/

Their facebook page no longer exists, which is a bit ominous. However, their twitter account hasn't been used in 4 years, so facebook may have just closed it due to lack of activity.

They were still advertising long stay winter FB holidays recently, as a kind fellow member advised a couple months ago here on PL.

I finished up booking with Mercury Direct for the 3* Veronica Hotel just up from the triangle, on all inclusive lite terms. Location suits me, with lots of relatively flat (ish) coastal walks out to Riccos one way, and down to the harbour the other.

As I build my old leg muscles up in week one, then I can start tackling Fabricas Hill and the Old Town, LOL! Seriously though, I do hope the Agapinor Hotel is just closed for a quick refurb...

Lloyd is correct, they have been seeking investors for 6 years to my knowledge. At one point they were trying to sell off the upper floors as apartments. I think their main problem has been their customer profile. They had lots of returning Brits each year and were doing well. The problem is likely to be the fact that as they get older they are dying off. The younger customer want beach and nightlife, not the centre of the old town.

We were speaking to a couple in Paphos airport in the summer. they were flying home after spending a week in the Aganipor, they had booked a week with Jet 2 Holidays not knowing were they were staying an accommodation issued on arrival job. they said they were not impressed with the accommodation standard and would not be returning there again although not put off Cyprus and were going home to book another trip but at a seafront hotel.

Apparently the place had a lot of Russian visitors at that time or elderly Brits, they being in the late 20s they got taxis each evening down to the seafront for meals and entertainment.

Personally never been in the place. 8-)

Meanwhile, a lot of tourists staying down on the seafront get a taxi or bus up to the Old Town to experience the market, shops, cafes, tavernas, restaurants, museums, and wonderful coastal views up there!

A taxi DOWN from the Agapinor to the harbour? How lazy is THAT? It's only a 20 minute stroll, downhill all the way! Maybe a taxi back after, though, LOL!

Yep, definitely agree with that comment Al. And of course, agreeing the cost of the taxi ride before you park your ermmm . . . . . . . .bottom in the back seat. 🤣

I've emailed the Agapinor to try and find out the future state of play there. Will keep you informed...

Meanwhile, their website is still taking long term stay bookings for 2018, just google or bing search it. I'm hopeful that this is just a quick 4 week closure through Christmas and New Year, while they have a fast make-over.

Yes, I noticed that "booking.com" and "bookcyprus" are still advertising the Agapinor, but I don't know if they're taking bookings, I didn't go that far. I tried ringing them, but no answer.

Glad you pointed that out Trev, it was a good night with over 90 members attending, I hope the hotel does survive, as there is not too many in the old town.

What does 'Semi Closed' mean. Are they accepting guests for Christmas dinner ?

When I drove past it today it looked empty with a big "FOR RENT" sign on the window.

By empty I mean nothing. No furniture. They might be refurbishing it, who knows?
